Leadership Training

Imagine a world where your teenager is home… with you… all day… all summer! No, this isn’t the beginning of a Steven King novel, it’s what will happen if you don’t send your teen to B.T. Camps.

For teens who are too old for camp, but too young to be counselors, the Leadership Training Program is more than just a “Counselor in Training” program. Our L.T.s balance responsibility and learning with time for fun.

The Leadership Trainee begins the summer developing skills and attitudes necessary to becoming a counselor assistant or instructor aide. The L.T. learns about child development, non-competitive play, and disciplinary strategies.

Once ready, the L.T. assists in a bunk or instructional area while under close supervision. Daily group and individual meetings throughout the summer reinforce learning, and frequent evaluations keep the L.T. informed of progress. L.T.s can be seen leading games during transition times; helping with swim lessons, sports, and other activities; facilitating lunch and snack; and giving special attention to their campers. They become positive role models for younger campers, and acquire self-confidence and leadership skills.

L.T.s also enjoy playing ga-ga and free time in the pool and lake. Community service credit is given and is accepted by most high schools.

9th graders are first year L.T.s and will be assigned to an area we feel is best suited for them. There are several rotations throughout the summer so L.T.s gain experience from varied scenarios. In 10th grade, second year L.T.s will have first choice of assignments throughout the summer.

Why Choose Us?

Door-to-door transportation.

We’re different than other camps. Our buses come right to your door.

Learn More >

We’re known for our door-to-door transportation. When you register, you receive one bus stop. Tell us where it is. Most of the time this is at your house. Sometimes parents ask us to bus from their work. Where ever it is, if a location is within our normal service area, we’ll get you.

All of our buses are very modern and are maintained at a high level. We partner with Woodlawn Motorcoach to provide a fleet of over 30 buses that service Northwest Baltimore County, Howard County, and Carroll County. Each bus is driven by a professionally trained driver who is certified and adheres to Department of Transportation standards.

In addition to the driver, each bus has two dedicated bus counselors to provide supervision, support, and encourage fun during the bus ride. Bus counselors are camp staff members who are assigned to ride a single bus every day during the summer. When the bus arrives at your house in the morning and afternoon, one bus counselor gets off the bus to greet you and to help your camper board or depart the bus. The second bus counselor takes care of attendance and in the afternoons helping to wake any campers who have fallen asleep.

Our bus service offers convenience. Does your camper want to ride home to a friend’s house? Do you need your camper to go to a grandparent’s or maybe take a bus that goes to a different area? Call us by 2:30 p.m. on the day you wish to make an afternoon or next morning change and we’ll work with you to make it happen.
