Grade 8 Programs
Every summer has a story. Write yours with us.
This summer, put your electronics away and make some amazing memories with life-long friends. For an 8th grader, camp is more than just Art, Nature, Boating, and the other activities at camp. Camp is where you can be yourself and get out of a classroom, away from social media, and challenge yourself with new experiences.
Our activity areas are headed by people who love what they do. As one of our older campers, all of our areas adjust the activities so that you build new skills. For example, in campcraft you’ll learn how to properly use knives. On the challenge course you’ll use elements reserved just for campers your age. In sports you might play archery tag. You even get to choose some of your schedule with our electives. Electives are activities that focus on a single interest. Love Tennis Racquet Baseball? There’s an elective for that. Love art? There’s an elective for that, too! Grandmaster chess champion? Yea, we have an elective for that! From art to zip-line, we have you covered.
Head counselors for our older bunks are college upperclassmen and co-counselors are high school upperclassmen. All Senior Campers swim twice daily, once for instruction and another for fun.
Travel Camp is unlike anything else at Beth Tfiloh Camps, the perfect blend of thrills, memories, and bonding with friends. Travel Campers and their counselors take daily field trips visiting cool places, including amusement parks, water parks, laser tag, baseball games, and more. You’ll soar through the air, speed down slides, tube down a river, and have amazing adventures.
Travel Camp is a five-day a week program, running Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Travel Camp for 8th graders takes place during weeks 4, 5 and 6.
Come see what everyone is excited about! This program SOLD OUT in 2016, so don’t be late to the party and register now for Travel Camp: 2017.

The power of creativity. There are no limits when it comes to your imagination.
Art Camp is led by a talented group of Art Instructors dedicated to Art Campers.
A typical day for a 8th grade Art Camp camper will include 4 periods of art and 2 swims as well as camp-wide specials and Shabbat Fridays. Campers will have the option to replace 1 art period with an elective.
Art Camp campers will engage in many classic and favorite camp crafts as well as some exciting new art trends. The campers will develop different skills as they learn crafts like ceramics, copper enameling, jewelry making, mosaics, macramé, stitchery, painting, papier-mâché, plaster craft, quilling, felting with wool, paper-making glass bead making, and new jewelry techniques.
Each week Art Camp focuses on two large projects and if time allows, some smaller projects.

Week 2: Copper Enameling | Multi-Media
Week 3: Ceramics | Felt
Week 4: Glass Fusion | Beads and Wire
Week 5: Ceramics | Mosaics
Week 6: Papier Mâché | Stationery | Journals

Do you live for sports? Sports Camp is about skill building, competitive play, and fun!
The crack of the bat, the swoosh of a basketball, taking it to the house for a touchdown, meeting professional athletes, Varsity Sports Camp is your ticket to all things sports. Varsity Sports Campers concentrate on a single sport each week.
The goal of Varsity Sports Camp is to have fun. Each week begins with the basics, progressing to skill development and ending with competition. Campers are immersed in the sport so real progress can be made. Professional athletes offer coaching and autograph sessions throughout the summer. Past visiting athletes include NFL Hall of Famer and 11 time Pro-Bowler Jon Ogden, Qadry Ismail, Lardarius Webb, Kelechi Osemele, Torrey Smith, Chris Tillman, Morgan Cox, and Kevin Gausman.
Varsity Sports Campers are grouped by age and skill level, and are taught by physical education teachers, coaches, and instructional professionals.

Why Choose Us?
We’re different than other camps. Our buses come right to your door.
We’re known for our door-to-door transportation. When you register, you receive one bus stop. Tell us where it is. Most of the time this is at your house. Sometimes parents ask us to bus from their work. Where ever it is, if a location is within our normal service area, we’ll get you.
All of our buses are very modern and are maintained at a high level. We partner with Woodlawn Motorcoach to provide a fleet of over 30 buses that service Northwest Baltimore County, Howard County, and Carroll County. Each bus is driven by a professionally trained driver who is certified and adheres to Department of Transportation standards.
In addition to the driver, each bus has two dedicated bus counselors to provide supervision, support, and encourage fun during the bus ride. Bus counselors are camp staff members who are assigned to ride a single bus every day during the summer. When the bus arrives at your house in the morning and afternoon, one bus counselor gets off the bus to greet you and to help your camper board or depart the bus. The second bus counselor takes care of attendance and in the afternoons helping to wake any campers who have fallen asleep.
Our bus service offers convenience. Does your camper want to ride home to a friend’s house? Do you need your camper to go to a grandparent’s or maybe take a bus that goes to a different area? Call us by 2:30 p.m. on the day you wish to make an afternoon or next morning change and we’ll work with you to make it happen.

Learn to swim.
We’re renowned for our swim programs. Following Red Cross guidlines, even the most timid swimmers learn to swim.
Live vicariously through our massive collection of photos. Each day we take hundreds of photos and make them available later in the evening for campers, friends and family to view. Always free, The Gallery is the best way to see a day at camp.
Our resident photographer takes hundreds of stunning photos daily.Through these photos we wish to convey “camp” to those of us not lucky enough to be able to attend our amazing camp every day.
